They are beautiful!!!!!
I am so jealous, the Cordon's are on my favorite's list and your Gloster's are ones that always fasinated me, and that is why I posted a picture of them in the new canary catagory.
Be sure and post updates on them.
I also really the greenery in your avairy, very pretty and good places for everyone to hide.

Re: Picked Up New Birds Today
ranchnanny, I called your canaries Glosters but I see you are calling them canaries. they looked like Glosters to my untrained eye, what kind of canaries are they?
Anyway they are very pretty and I hope to see baby canaries pictures in the future.

Hmmm, I see babies in your future. They are beautiful, I have read a lot about the green singers and thought about getting some, it seems I want every species
Do they get along with your other birds?

Re: Picked Up New Birds Today
Yes they do. They are always together I wish I could say that about my CB pair.

Re: Picked Up New Birds Today
Why, don't your CB's get along with the others? I thought they would do better in a mixed aviary more than the Green Singers. From I have read GSingers don't always get along in a mixed avairy unless you give them a lot of space, but I thought CBs did.

Re: Picked Up New Birds Today
The CB's get along with the other birds they just don't sit together or sleep together. He is still looking for the male RCCB. I think the hen is young and doesn't respond to his calling yet. I thought of putting them in a cage by themselves....

Ahhh, I thought they were not getting along with the other birds. Are you concerned about the GS in a mixed aviary? Here is what I copied from the species section on here:
GREEN SINGERS IN CAPTIVITY
HABITAT DESIGN
Plenty of flight room is necessary if they are to be kept in a mixed species enclosure. They may have fatal fights if more than one pair is kept in even the largest enclosures, therefore, one to a pen is best. Provide tall growth (dwarf trees, tall, dense shrubs) for nighttime roosting and nesting.
Mixed collections should also have at least two or even three feeding stations to prevent Singers from dominating and starving out other co-habitants.

Re: Picked Up New Birds Today
I wondered about that kind of behavior the first day when the GS hen was getting kind of pushy if anyone got close to her. I thought Oh No! but that ended. She eats well with the other birds. I have 2 hopper feeders plus numerous dishes with different things in them treats, greens etc. so there is plenty of room. I have lots of greenery in the flight so that is no problem. I also have a stress perch with 5 cubicles. I am going to add another nest since I have seen the male feeding her. So far so good.....

Good, I am glad they are getting along, sounds like you have thought of everything. If he is feeding her now it probably won't be long until they start a nest. Looks like your going to have lots of babies soon, are the Stars still incubating?
